The sounds and rhythms in the Brazilian tradition of samba and bossa nova, along with grass-roots sounds of maracatu and baião, complemented by afro-american elements (blues, rock and funk), surrounded by an improvisational jazz style: that's how one best characterizes the "Brazilian Jazz" of Luiz Lima Band and Luiz Lima Trio/Quartet.
Luiz Lima, a Brazilian guitar player who has lived in Italy since the 90's, directs the groups. His resume includes sharing the stage with some of the biggest names of the Brazilian popular music scene (like the singer Nana Caymmi and the legendary guitarist Baden Powell, one of the founders of Bossa Nova) |

ON THE ROAD |
Following an evolutionary line, greatly inspired by the "Movimento Tropicalista" (a post-Bossa Nova music movement of the 60's, led by Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, in Brazil), the release of the CD "Realidade Real" (Philology W705.2) represents a turning point for the artistic project of Luiz Lima. The CD is the result of many years of experimenting and research for Lima: both as a live performer with his groups and through his academic pursuits (University of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil; Music College at the University of Maine, USA; and the Italian Conservatory). |
